Working more than an average of 48 hours per week represents the largest occupational health and safety risk faced by Australian workers today*. Fatigue is primarily caused by a lack of sleep and/or stressful working conditions and can affect anyone at any time, making it one of the biggest risks in the workplace. Mental and physical fatigue levels are assessed and factors which elevate risk in the workplace are reviewed. Primary risk areas are identified and tailored strategies, along with recommendations, are devised to address causal factors. Staff and management are provided with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage fatigue, reducing time lost to injury and improving productivity. 1.
