Heat and Hydration The Australian climate is characterised by high temperatures, low rainfall and extreme climatic conditions. The health risks associated with heat related conditions include heat stroke, cramp, heat exhaustion and, at worst, death. Cool Heat educates staff and promotes the importance of hydration in the workplace. Strategies to improve staff hydration levels, including a comprehensive Working in Heat policy, are proven to be instrumental in reducing heat illness. 1. Initial Health Assessment • Dietary analysis • Risk profiling including Hydration Specific Gravity Analysis (Refactrometer) • Skin Screening is an optional extra 2. Training & Intervention • Energise Your Day Program (can include lunchtime Yoga or Pilates) • Stretch & relax sessions • Workshops are available to up-skill supervisors in heat and hydration management 3. Re-assessment & Reporting • Repeat of initial Health Assessments • Reporting on results using Health Risk Assessment (HRA) program • Company profile presented to the company 4.
